Healing Arts

I’ve been a licensed Reiki Practitioner since 2003. My journey began with a personal search to heal and expand my own life. Admittedly, I had some reservations about this hands-on treatment with the weird sounding name — it all seemed a little woo-woo at first. But my curiosity (and desire to add to my “toolbox” of ways to navigate this crazy thing called life) kept me moving forward. Somewhere along the way, the client became the practitioner.

So what is this thing called Reiki?

The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word Rei, which means “Universal Life” and Ki which means “Energy.” Reiki has been around for thousands of years and was rediscovered in the mid-1800’s by the Japanese Buddhist monk, Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion.

Contrary to what some may think, it’s not a massage, but rather a gentle “laying on of hands” designed to help support and balance the body’s energy. Sounds a little out there, right? But many people find it deeply grounding, and the effects are often felt in profound ways. A typical Reiki session can help ease stress and support the body’s natural ability to restore balance on all levels — physical, mental, and emotional.

During our initial meeting walk you through what to expect and check in with you about any areas of concern, intentions, or goals you’d like to focus on during your session.

Each session is about 60 minutes. You remain fully clothed, so if that’s something you were feeling a little weird about, no need to worry, because the only thing you’ll be taking off is your shoes.

You’ll rest comfortably on a massage table while I move through a series of traditional Reiki hand positions. Sessions begin either at your head or feet. They can be hands-on (light touch) or hands-off (hands held slightly above the body), and we can combine both depending on your comfort level. The beauty of Reiki is that there is no right or wrong way to experience it.

During the session, you may feel warmth, tingling, or simply a deep sense of relaxation. Most people describe the experience as calming, restorative, and peaceful.

Benefits of a Reiki healing session:
*
Promotes deep relaxation and stress relief
* Helps reduce anxiety, emotional tension, and overwhelm
* Supports the body’s natural healing process
* May improve sleep, mood, and overall well-being

After your session we’ll take a few moments to reflect on your experience and I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Price: $60 per session*

* This rate is intentionally lower than what most practitioners charge. My goal is to make this work as accessible as possible. Having experienced my own challenges in life, I understand that financial strain can sometimes stand in the way of healing. Because of that, I offer Reiki on a sliding scale — please don’t let cost keep you from giving yourself this gift of healing.
