Ciao a tutti,
I think it was pretty clear early on that once I got the new job at the Guggenheim Foundation I’d be planning my journey back to Firenze.
My first stop is always the Arno. Sempre. And it didn’t disappoint. My Italian friends and I refer to the Arno as “my husband, marito.” Perhaps because I yell out “Amore!” each time I cross over any of the bridges that connect the center with the Oltrarno, the other side of the river. Doesn’t matter who is around me and looking at me as if I’m weird. It is my spot. It is THE PLACE that heals, inspires, and lights up my heart. Therefore, I decided that my first installment of this “Return to Firenze” series would begin here, the place I love most in the world.
I have so many photos and stories to share. Many of you who follow me on social media may have had a glimpse of some of my experiences already. I hope you’ll enjoy revisiting them with me. And for those of you who are seeing them for the first time, welcome! I hope you all feel the moments of exhilaration now as when I first experienced them.
I’ll be sharing more as the weeks go on and extend a grazie mille for taking this journey with me.
